Im a little confused on the drives. For my new computer I will need to play dvds, burn dvds, play cds, and burn cds. I know there are combos and stuff, but what would be the best optical drive/drives to buy?

While not necessary, a DVD burner along with a DVD-ROM drive would be the optimal setup. I recommend Lite-On drives, primarily because of their low-cost.

Get a DVD-RW combo drive. It will play and burn both CDs and DVDs. Plextor, NEC and Liteon are good brands. Check what software they come with if you don't already have a good burning program.

Can a dvd burner do anything else other than burning? I know a dvd rom can play dvds and cds.
