Just be sure you clean the filters regularly, I've had an entire Hospital phone system go into thermal shutdown cause that little screen filter was completely clogged and finally the power supply shut off, and of course it was the one in the cabinet to the processor and control pacs, so basically I had a whole Hospital down due to dirty filter. I cleaned it, unplugged/plugged the system and it thankfully came back to life and I was the hero that day.

Some cases, especially higher end cases, will come with filters pre-installed on the intake fans (Lian Li comes to mind). Personally, I don't like them as I think they constrict air flow. I took them off my own case as I'm more interested in good air flow and keeping my components cool. I feel the price I pay (more frequent cleaning) is worth the trade off, but that's certainly a personal opinion.

that might be a concern if you live in a highly dusty area, but I have not found that to be the case with my system in the lan-li case with 2 front case fans with filters, twice a year I clean them and thay are not very dirty, and I am living in a farm country with dirt roads.

A can of compressed air or an air compressor (turned WAY down) work well. I use my compressor, as it's a lot cheaper than a can of air, but again, make sure you turn the output down so as not to cause any damage.

I have a few of the filters on my Lian-Li case and I like them because I find it easier to clean cat hair and dust bunnies out of a filter than to clean cat hair out of delicate PC components.

I've heard you can use those short pantyhose stockings for filters as well. Haven't ever tried them myself as I'm one of the ones that prefers the extra airflow of not having the filters on there. I just make sure to remember to use canned air every 5 to 6 months to blow the dust bunnies out.

thanks for the idea, i'll try it..and cant u just pour water on the filter and wash of the dust? Also u could buy those filters u see on tv that take air and make it safe..like protects u from dandruff, bacteria, mold, cat allergies and whatnot..place it next to uer comp lol (and they cost 300bucks too).. that would really help with the whole dust thing..or u could somehow intergrated it to uer system, maybe connected it with a tube or something directly to uer INTAKE..it be a cool project.

Seems like an extreme measure to spend 300 bucks for an air purifier that might work. I just blow air backwards on my filters (outside) to clean them. I don't have a cooling problem so a little less air makes no difference.
