more ram will it help

I built my pc about a year ago the specs are in my sig except i got a raptor now for my os and two backup drives.

ok the problem i bought some fonts from a font freak, 4738 fonts yo be exact.
well i use photoshop a lot, well it seemed to slow it down a bunch after i installed on the fonts. if i increase from my pc 2700 1 gig to two gigs with a speed of 3200 will it help with my problem

thanks
Rommell

I would bet more RAM would help, but the PC3200 isn't going to make it any faster. First, the PC3200 RAM would have to slow down to match the PC2700. PC2700 is meant for a CPU with a FSB of 533MHz, so a 533MHz CPU would run PC3200 at PC2700 speeds anyways.

Oh, still, if the CPU doesn't have a FSB of 800MHz, you won't see much difference - speed wise, but you very well could see a major difference with just more RAM. What I'm saying is there probably won't be a difference between 2GB of PC3200 and 2GB of PC2700

What are the exact specs of this system?

PC 2700 is actually more expensive (by about $5 / GB). But make sure see if your motherboard supports DDR400 (PC3200)

yea my mobo does support the 3200 but my processor is only 333 so do you think it would be better off to get 3200 or 2700.

To see if adding another gig of RAM will help your situation...if your computer is going to the swap file a lot during normal operation (with all those new fonts installed) then adding another gig of RAM will definitely help. Doesn't matter if it's PC2700 or PC3200 as long as you add more RAM to reduce the system's need to go to the swap file.

blue, you are quoting Intel FSB speeds, this is an AMD we are dealing with.

If you use Photoshop, upgrading to 2gb will help. Speed is a nonissue as long as it's PC2700 or better and you aren't overclocking.
