Ram compatibility
I'm wondering what ram would be compatible with the pocesser I have, since I've been having a lot of crashing/freezing that a friend told me was probably related to incompatibilty with the processor and ram. I have a AMD64 2800+ Socket 754.

We need the rest of your specs.
And please include the power supply manufacturer as well as the wattage.

No problem.
Just go over to Crucial : http://www.crucial.com/ And enter the info about your motherboard. They'll pop-up the lifetime guaranteed compatible ram for you. |

You are in luck. The Crucial configurator lists their generic part numbers for that board instead of their proprietary modules. This means that you can shop for that EXACT part number at other vendors and possibly save some bucks.
The same 512mb module (CT6464Z40B) that Crucial sells for 66 bucks is 45 bucks at Newegg, for example. |

Ok, thanks. I'm in Canada, where should I start looking? I'm sure places like Staples aren't going to be selling Ram, and the one good place I know of (DealsDirect) has only one 512MB module from Crucial there, and no exact part numbers anywhere.

Where in Canada are you? There are several locations of my favorite component store. Their locations are mainly around the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) so if you are near Toronto I would say have a look there first. It's called Canada Computers:
www.canadacomputers.com If you want to shop online, I would recommend www.ncix.com for parts. I've used them on many occassions and they've always been fantastic. Pretty decent prices and very good service/delivery. Hope this helps, Stryker

I'm within about 30 miles of Ottawa, so that's primarily where I'd be looking if I don't get something shipped to me.

NCIX lists the exact Crucial part numbers. The same module I referenced is $74.98 CDN.

Actually Staples does sell RAM, use the configurator and it will tell you what they have that is compatible with your motherboard. Edit:: Just looked at the Canadian Staples site, no configurator there, just on the U.S. site. So I guess that won't work unless you want to go to New York to get it.
