pci express help
Heya. I just purchased an HP pavilon a1230n and bought an ati radeon X800 XL pci express x16 graphics card along with it. well my problem is that im not sure how exactly to change the speed of my pci express slot to x16 or any other speed for that matter. ive checked my bios and i didnt find anything that could help me there unless i missed something. help would be much appriciated.

Not sure what you are trying to change. A PCIe x16 slot is an x16 slot, you can't change the speed of it, it's already at x16. Are you sure you have one? There are smaller x8 slots, even smaller x4, and very small x2 and x1 slots also. None of those will phyiscally fit a x16 card.

An HP bios will not have any adjustments like that. It's a very limited bios. Just plug the card in and hope the HP power supply has enough power to run it.

Oh i see. So the pci express slot is already set to x16. I thought it was kinda like and agp slot where you had to set the speed manually (4x, 6x, 8x). Also it seems that this HP does have enough power to support it. Thanks for the information.
