CPU Temperature Readings
Not to revive a 2 year old thread, I wanted to get some feedback on my temperature readings.
Specs under an average load: AMD 2600+ (stock speed, nothing overclocked) CPU External [46C/114F] CPU On Die [58C/136F] CHA [34C/93F] I would like to get some clarification on whether this is something I need to be concerned with. I have one exhaust fan and use a Kingwin (I believe is the brand) HS and fan on the CPU. It makes sense that the On Die temperature would be the highest, but is it too high? Thanks in advance. |

What motherboard are you using?
Are you experiencing any heat related problems like freezes or random shutdowns? Are those temps idle temp or under load? Where are you getting the temps from...the BIOS or a Windows based utility? Cricket

Using a SOYO Dragon Plus (KT600 chipset). Nothing overclocked.
Haven't had any problems, but then again I seldom am under a full load. I am going to start using it for media compression (audio and video) in the future and want to make sure this will not be a problem. The temperatures are under a normal mode and I am reading them from the bios (I took those numbers after the system had been running for a few days straight). The thread I originally read was this one: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=82756 A user was getting similar numbers, but I'm not sure if it was the "On Die" temperature he was talking about. |

SOYO motherboards tended to read temps a little high.
Try doing the media work with the system and if you do start to have heat related problems then you'll have to look at possibly changing the heatsink to something more efficient and possibly improving the case cooling. But if the system handles the media work without issue, then no worries. Cricket

Thanks Cricket. I'm going to see if I can get some of the cool air from the AC blowing over it... especially in the summer.
