Firewire Port on a Case

will i be able to hook up my firewire port on the front of my case using this card? and my case is right here: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811119075 i figured i could, i just didnt know what that cable was for? i want to make certain i can do what i need to do, ordering everything the first time. thanks for the help in advance |

I don't think you can connect the front FireWire port to that FireWire card...it does have an internal port but I think you need a internal header with exposed pins, not a port.

oh i see. do you think you could help me out there, and tell me which card im gonna need to be able to hook up a front firewire port in my case, cause my motherboard doesnt have any firewire ports or headers on it

You could use a Card Reader like this one. It connects to a PCI card 1394 plug and doesn't need a header. HERE is the manual for it which explains how it sets up. Or you could change your motherboard choice to one with an internal header.
