modems
Ok. I bit the bullet and bought an Ambient hardware modem with an Intel chipset. It works good when it connects but it dials the wrong number about 75% of the time. For some reason it doubles one or more of the intended numbers such as: instead of 742-3356 it might dial 774-2335 or 744-2335 or 742-2232 and so on. I bought two of these modems and they both do it. WHAT IS UP WITH THIS? PLEASE HELP.

Never have had good luck with those modems - if you want a good hardware modem get one with a Conexant, USR, or Lucent chipset.

In the extra settings box, put S11=50

I tried the extra settings suggestion and it didn't clear up the problem. If it makes any differenc, I've only encountered the problem while trying to play a dos game (seawolf) over the modem. All windows programs seems to use \the modem without any problems.
