TV Tuner card question..
I'm guessing that a pc must be powered up to get a tv signal to a monitor through a tuner card? I was reading the spec on a new sony all in one and I thought I saw that you didn't need to power up the pc, just turn on the monitor

Yes, the PC must be turned on. It's the same as with every other card (sound card, graphics card, etc.).
A Sony all-in-one desktop might have a special one, though, that doesn't need a PC to work with and can work as long as the PC is connected to the mains. I don't know of any TV card that you can obtain separately, with that function. RJ

If it doesn't need to be an internal card, you could look for something similar to this:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Tab=0&NoMapp=0 It goes in between the computer and monitor so you can use the computer normally, or just turn on the tuner and monitor and use it as a tv without the computer |
