Welcome to PcMech

New case covers? If your looking for a new case you can usually pick one up at a Best Buy or Circuit City. You can also buy one online like I have or many others do here @ www.newegg.com they have a good seletion and some decent cases for cheap.

There is nothing we use that is referred to in English as a "case cover". There are openings into a case that can be covered, however. If you have blank drive bays in front, most any White Box shop has spare BAY COVERS you can try fitting on (bring the case with you). A white box shop assembles unbranded PC's from standard parts, either on spec, or on order.

In the back, you might have empty "backplane slots" that are more standard than the bay covers, so you can just buy a bag of a half dozen of those, and they'll most likely fit. The last hole is the "i/o cover", and those are so variable that you need to have the motherboard with you when you try to match up to that.

On each side of the chassis are the "side panels", which are among the LEAST standardized of parts. If you have an old tower on which the side panels have disappeared, and you hope to replace THOSE, you might not be able to do so, unless you are working on a brand named system for which your particular case style is still being used (not very likely). If that is the situation, you'll probably have to bite the bullet and purchase a complete computer case -- should you be in a bind, financially, some of those "White Box" PC shops take in some trade- ins, and strip many of those for useful parts, then sell what's left for salvage. You can get a used case, fairly complete, for $10 or less, quite often. In some cases, you'll even get an included, working floppy drive and perhaps a CD-Rom as well.
