Probably the burner died. How old is it, and have you burned alot before ?
Also, what brand and model is it ? Can it read CDs ? RJ

If it's burning slow, you need to check the status of the IDE controllers in device manager, all channels need to be set to DMA.

It burns slow when i use the windows media player. When i use the roxio software that the burner came with, it doesnt burn at all.I did as you suggested and changed to dma. When i tried to reboot "operating system not found" came up.I went into the bios and noticed that the cd writer was on dma mode 4.Switched back to default mode and the computer booted.??????????
