!CPU Fan Problem!

ok, i know this should go in the cooling/modding forum but this requires immediate attention. i bought three Thermaltake fans, see link
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835999111
my problem is this, i have a fan slot directly in front fo the CPU fan, which is designated intake. i replaced that fan with the new mentioned above and load up my CPU. i have my ASUS Ai Booster that gives my temp and rpm info. after loadup i had a CPU temp of 45C and it was going up 1C every two or three seconds so i immediatley shut down. as well, i noticed my CPU RPM not even breaking 1600 when it is normally 3500+/-500 RPM with an easy load. then i replaced the fan with the old one but i still cannt get my CPU RPM much above 1500. however, my temps are stable at 40C+/- 2C. i also got a warning on system startup that my CPU fan was broken or low speed. did i blow out the CPU fan with my new insanely fast fan.

on a side note, is there a program other than Ai Booster/ASUS PC Probe that i control acutally control my fan's speed?

What fan do you have on the CPU? Stock? Is that fan controlled by the motherboard, or a temperature monitor? (did you have to stick a thermal probe by the CPU?)

i did not install the thermal sensor for the case fan. the CPU fan is stock and it is controlled by the motherboard. after further analysis, my mobo is 5C lower than my CPU temp whereas before it was +/- 1C so i think that might be the reason. but i am afraid to try anything CPU intensive because the CPU fan might not kick in.

EDIT: i do REALLY need a fan control program. these fricken thigns are vaccum cleaners, especially with two, let alone the other two i have yet to installed on my new heatsink and the front of the case.

I think you need a hardware fan controller rather than a software one. Get a cheap 15 dollar 5 1/4" bay controller for all of your fans.

And unless the fans get power through the motherboard (single yellow RPM wire doesn't count), you can't control the speed through software.

Just trying to follow: first, your mobo temp should always be less than your CPU temp. That's normal. Also, I'm not sure where you have your CPU fan connected to. It should be hooked up to your mobo at the CPU fan header / connector. Throttling case fans is one thing, but I don't recommend that for the CPU fan.

oh, so no software. well since i have a thermaltake xaser i have four fan controls built in. so i reconfigured everyhting. BUT my CPU fan is still ridiculously low yet my CPU temp. does not exceed what it did beforehand, strange indeed.

You don't have the CPU fan hooked up to the fan controller do you?

Oh, brain flash...doesn't that mobo have the cool'n'quiet? or whatever it's called? Might check in BIOS to see if something got changed.

Posting a link would be nicer than making folks search for other threads....
