$600 computer
Hey im building a computer for a buddy but he has a budget of 600 so i found this mobo what do you think? hes going to use it for wordprocessing and gaming occasionally. The one i was looking at was:
Asus P5RD1-V w/ DuallDDR400, Radeon X300, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, PCI-E x16 I havn't payed any attention to what has come out in the past year and a half so i wasn't sure what was goign on with teh processors when i last looked 3.2 HT was the fastest p4 so i chose this one for him to keep the costs down:Intel Pentium 4 Processor 506 2.66 GHz 533FSB w/ 1MB Cache |

That board and processor will make a good budget machine. Don't skimp on the ram, the onboard video will use quite a bit of system ram. If you are going to be buying a separate video card anyway, buy an Intel chipset motherboard, not an ATI.
If you are looking at 533 FSB processors to keep the cost down, don't discount the Celeron-D - you can save some money here and get a slightly faster processor. Last edited by glc; 12-04-2005 at 11:40 PM. |

I wouldn't waste money on premium ram - I'd get good old simple Corsair Value Select.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145440 That stuff is even CL 2.5. |
