Overkill?
Hello!
My friend intends on buying a new vid card to run CoD2 with decent fps.. here is his current computer: Asus A7V266-E motherboard 512ram pc2100 Athlon XP 1800+ GeForce 3 ti200 So he's thinking of getting the Radeon 9600XT rite now but he doenst want to upgrade his cpu and mobo cuz he aint got the money for it right now, he just wants to upgrade for CoD2. Here is my question... would that vid card be overkill with his current system? I mean, will it really improve his comp's performances or will the cpu and mobo make the vid card not that great? Any comments, help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |

well, I don't think so
but, the only thing I can see happening is the CPU bottlenecking the GPU I'm gonna say they would run fine together, the 9600XT is not a highpower card anymore, I doubt the CPU would bottleneck it, as in you case be overkill, and if it did it would only be slightly Last edited by CaptainMoustache; 12-05-2005 at 02:27 AM. |

That card is not even close to overkill, in fact I'd probably put a 9800 Pro in it.

I have to agree with GLC, and would also suggest a GB of RAM if that game is anything like BF2.
