i have a emachines w4682 and am looking for a bios upgrade the bios id string is as follows 07/26/2003-i845GE-LPC47M-6A69VF0NC-00. i found a place that has an upgrade that came out in nov 05 but they want $70.00 and the manufacture sends me to that site for the upgrade. the mother board is a fic vg33. any help would be greatly appreciated

is they upgrade absoluetly necessary? most of the time it's best to leave the bios version alone until it needs to be updated

That's correct. Why do you need to upgrade it? Updates only resolve certain issues and sometimes add new CPU support.

If there is an upgrade for that board, it will be free and downloadable from eMachines. That is not a stock FIC bios, it's customized for eMachines.
