No delete button but you can hit edit on the other post then just backspace it out and put double post or something like that.

Loc....
Case modding is fairly easy....once you do it it's not so bad...you will need the right tools to do what you are wanting to do.... Best way is find a freind orr relative who already has the tools... To enlarger the 80mm hole to a 120mm hole in my opinion the best and nicest way is to use a "hole saw"...You use this in a drill press...Once you drill the hole...pop a fan or fan guard over the hole to get the bolt pattern....I recomend using masking tape to tape the surounding area as to not mark up the surface while cutting the hole.... You can use a hand drill but the end result may not be as good...The key most important thing is to drill slow... you can alway drill more holes to open up the air intake passages or a router to make slots... To cut the hole for the fan...if cutting metal you will need a carbide tipped metal hole saw for best results but a bi-metal will work....these are expensive just to cut 1 hole...the last one I bought was $34.00 and change... So finding someone who has one makes more sence....you can also use a dremel if you prefer...but the cut wont be as clean.....just make sure you completely empty the case of ALL hardware...before going further...

woohoo., so i kept the 80mm size fan on the top but cut out a LOT of metal and enlarged the holes on the cover. now my fan moves a ton more air. as well, i cut out a hole for the side fan and the intake also GREATLY increased. i also read an artcicle on how to increase airflow. so i bought some duct tape and went crazy. the inside of my case is clutter clean and all wires are taped down, allowing for fantastic airflow. now my temperatures are 35C idle, 40-42C load as opposed to 38-40C idle and 45-48C load!!!!

Good job Loc.....
Half the job of getting good airflow and circulation is keeping the clutter to a minimum... when you look in a case should be barely able to see the wires if you can route them out of site... |
