Ide Cable Question

Yet another rookie question - on an IDE cable, does it matter which plug (the first one or second one on the chain) the master and slave drive is plugged into?

Thanks.

Depends. On the 40 ribbon cable, it doesn't matter. On the 80 ribbon cable, master goes to the black connector, the slave to the grey, and the blue goes to the board.

Make sure the drives are jumpered to Cable Select ("CS") first.
