I run windows xp professional and have hp officejet 5510 all-in-one printer.
When I try to start my pc it will not boot up but the windows xp screen will continously scroll off and on if the printer is hooked up to the computer. If I do not plug the printer in then the pc boots up and only then can I plug in the printer and things are o.k. Do I have an undetected virus or what? I have a tech built computer AMD xp2000 1.66ghz,& 224mb of ram. |

Uninstall the printer, then use the HP utility to completely uninstall the driver (it's available on their site, it's the one for "all in ones") - then reboot and reinstall it using the latest driver package, using the exact sequence specified (usually install software first before plugging it in). You also need to have the latest motherboard drivers installed, sometimes this will cure USB problems.
