PSU Upgrade Needed?
Hello All,
I trying to figure out if I need to upgrade my PSU for the upgrades I'm ordering. I have an Antec TruePower 380W in my case right now. I just ordered a 6800GS and a WD 74GB Raptor which will be upgraded with a 3200 Venice and a 939 non SLI MSI motherboard. Will this work or will I need to upgrade the PSU (note my sig for the opticals and the storage drive)? I'm looking at this one as a possible upgrade: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103937 As always, I appreciate any suggestions. Vlad |

Which MSI motherboard are you getting? Does it have a 24 pin motherboard power connector? If it does you're going to need a ATX 2.0 power supply. And with the upgrades you're thinking of you should get at least a 420 watt ATX 2.0 PSU.

Hi Cricket,
I was considering going with this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813130491 I looked at the product specs but didn't find anything on the PSU requirements. Thanks for any help! |

That motherboard has a 24 pin motherboard power connection. You're going to need a ATX 2.0 power supply.

Thanks Crickit!
I kind of figured that I would have to upgrade the PSU for the 6800 and the new motherboard. Christmas greetings to the warm islands. |
