Question SATA 2 mobo with SATA 1 HD

I'm looking at getting an ASUS A8N-SLI mobo (which is a SATA 2 mobo) with a Maxtor 100GB SATA 1 drive. I'm wondering how well this is going to work, and what needs to be done to make the two different SATA's work together?

The SATA 300 (technically not SATA II) port *should* be backwards compatible with SATA 150 drives by default.

I am running one sata2 and one sata1 drive on an epox npa9+ultra [sata2 mb] They work fine together.

I actually benched the newer drive [sata2 with ncq] against the older WD drive. The only real difference was in burst speed; other than that both drives had the same average speed.

I found the screenshot of the benchmark. It is interesting to note that the sata1 drive outperforms the new sata2 with ncq in average transfer rate and min transfer rate. The only place the new drive outperforms the old one is in access time and burst out of the cache.
