84 not 97?

OK so i just switched from windowsXP home to windowsXP pro. before the switch my hard drive(MAXTOR 100GB SATA) registered as like 93GB, then after the switch it now registers as 84GB total capacity?? idk why this happened. i mean 100,000/1024=97 not 84???

disk management can be found by right clicking on 'My Computer', selecting 'Manage', then selecting Disk Management on the left side of the window that pops up.

There you can view the entire hard drive, and see if there is any unformatted space.

You could use a programme such as Partition Magic, or Acronis partition manager (if you have them) to merge the unformatted space into the formatted portion.

If you're doing a format anyway, then you may as well select the maximum partition during the windows install process.
