SATA Question
Hello All,
I'm using a Raptor 74GB as my OS drive. It's running fine BUT the drive is showing up as a removeable drive in my OS (XP with SP2 and all updates). Is this normal as this is my first experience with a SATA drive?. After going through the control panel and looking at the controllers listed, I can not find my Raptor as far as making sure that it is set up as UDMA. Is there any reason for that? Many thanks for any input on this. FYI sig needs to be updated!!! Vlad |

SATA drives are hot-pluggable, so it will show up as removable. Sounds like the Raptor is the SATA drive. You're just seeing a different name for the same drive.

I guess I should have rephrased that. In the hardware manager, there are two SATA controllers listed in which there are no HDDs listed under either of the controllers. Thanks for any help on this! |

There won't be. The drive is going to be in disk drives, not under controllers. The SATA controllers will be in DMA by default as long as their drivers are installed. To confirm, check the properties of the IDE controllers. Believe it or not, SATA controllers will be listed in there as IDE channels.
