power went out, external hd no longer works, important files lost ... help!
i recently sold my laptop and was transferring the files from it to my external hard drive. as this was going through, my power went out. it came right back on, and when i tried to open up my external drive, i got an error!
how do i fix this, and is it fixable?! i had sooooo many important files on my external hard drive. the power has gone out before with it on, but this has never happened before ... please help, guys! |

Try unplugging the external from the laptop and from the wall. Wait a while and try it again. What specific external drive do you have?
