!!!!! Ide Cable Help Please!!!!!!!!

i am in the process of building my first computer and have run into a problem concerning the hard drive and it's cable i have it all installed and am using one IDE hard drive i have the dvd burner on the middle part of it and it does not recognize the hard drive. can you only have hd/hd on one IDE cable or cani have this setup of hd/dvd. or might it just be the cbale itself?

Please post your complete system specs. List the parts by brand and model.

Double check that the cable is installed blue connector to motherboard, grey connector to DVD burner and black connector to hard drive. Both drives should have the jumper set to CS (cable select).

Check the jumpers like Cricket said... ontop of the drive and DVD drive there should be a diagram detailing which jumper configuration is cable select.

msi rs482m/rs480m series board
socket 754 2800+ amd sempron
corsair d400 512mb value select
rosewell value series case
NEC Beige IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3550A - OEM
Western Digital Caviar SE WD1200JB 120GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM
