The windows load up screen/Hard drive's fault.

I moved this to here because I have reason to believe its the Hard Drive giving the problem. My mother's 5 year old computer will not go beyond the windows xp loading screen. It did twice out of the many times I restarted it, and both times I heard a few clicks from the Hard Drive right before it loaded to the login screen. The other times where it sits forever on the loading screen, I don't hear any clicks from the Hard Drive but I do hear it spinning inside. Does anyone think that the Hard Drive could be dieing?

Please do not open new threads on the same issue. I'll leave this one open long enough for you to post a link to the other thread.
