Question Clawhammer Vs San Diego

I am looking at the AMD Athlon 64 4000 and it is being offered in 2 differnt cores. The San Diego and the Clawhammer. The specs look identical other than the process type. The clawhammer is 80 dollars more. What is the difference between them and why is the clawhammer so much more?

Thanks I already read that in the specs, but what is the difference from a user point of view? Do I need to spend the extra 80 dollars?

AMD seems to do that with their older technologies (price them more than new one). Must be to promote use of the new core? Yet, you'd think they'd discount the old ones to get them used up. Whatever. In any case, the San Diego uses newer technology and will run cooler, as Max pointed out above.

They are priced higher because they are no longer being produced, and those are secondary market prices. Supply vs. demand. Look at the street prices of Northwoods when you find them.

Good Decision. Not only is it cheaper, but it runs cooler and will OCing it easier if you ever want to get into OCing that processor. It is also the newer technology.

In general, smaller scale and lower voltages are better.
