PC Power & Cooling Silencer 470 Dell...

Does anyone have experience with the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 470 Dell replacement power supply, model # S47D? I'd especially like to know if this unit will require any mods be done to my case, are there wiring/connection instructions/diagrams, or anything to be aware of? I have heard nothing but good things about PC Power & Cooling products, so, I have no problem giving them a try with some peace of mind. My computer is a Dell Dimension 8400 that came with a 350W PSU. Since I appear to be heading down the road of upgrading some general components(video card, etc) as time and money become available, I'm thinking I should take a step back and start with the PSU before continuing. Thanks for the advice/opinions!!!

One of these days I hope to have learned enough to contribute here, rather than just bug everyone with questions! Thanks again!

PCP&C is a pretty reputable manufacturer.
I would assume that the replacement they have would just drop in without any modifications to the case.
The wiring should be the same as the original Dell PSU.
This page shows the dimensions for that unit.

There should not be any mods necessary, otherwise PCP&C would not list that in their configurator for that model Dell.

By the way, I put a Radeon X600 Pro All-in-Wonder into an 8400 with the stock PSU, no problems.

Thanks guys.

jayb1234, I just found that diagram while you where posting the link to it yesterday. Made me laugh!

I'm hoping to get the time in the next couple days to pull my case out and open it up again. I want to varify the fit, which I'm not expecting any problems, just want to make sure. Also, I want to map all the connections from the power supply...which plug #(if marked) goes to which components/connectors for future knowledge. I found a diagram from Dell that shows the stock PSU and the leads that come out. All the leads are marked P1, P2 and so forth, up to P10. They show nice little pics of the individual connectors and give info about each, but, don't indicate where each lead goes. I know they are not all in use, so, I want to see what's available, too. I want to look at my mobo better to map the location and type of connectors on the mobo. I have a diagram of it, but, can't make out the connector types easily...ie. see what type of connector is the PCI card fan connector, how many pins, etc. When I finish this little map, I'll post my findings. Maybe it will help others newbies, such as myself, with Dell 8400's. I, also, want to do it to see how the PC P&Cing PSU leads match up with the originals and give me a reference for future decisions on components.

There really aren't that many different types of connectors. You don't have to match up any numbers per se.
