Supra Max as good as Supra Express?

The Diamond Supra Express is no longer available on their website. They do have Supra Max. Is this as good as the Express? Is it a dreaded 'winmodem'?

Yep, I'd stay away from the SupraMax, it's a winmodem. SupraExpress, however, is a true hardware modem. HTH

The only similarity, is the name on the chipset, they're both Conexant.
The Supra Express is the (tried and true) ACFII chipset, as hard as they get.
The Supra Max is the HCF semi-softmodem chipset. Not the best, but you could do a lot worse! (ESS, Cirrus Logic/Ambient, PCTel, PCTelAMR, Chameleon).

I found a place on Price Watch selling them for $25 and ordered one (express). I wasn't all that impressed with the company--They tried selling it to me for $39 but agreed to go down to the $25 as listed.

This is true with a lot of companies. Their regular price is higher but they have a "pricewatch" special price. The catch is that you have to ask for it to get it. Specials like that have been used for years.

That's very true. Usually when I call the company I tell them what I want and that I found it on pricewatch for such and such $$. Sometimes prices listed are for online orders only. Some companies are nice and mention that you must mention pricewatch to get the product for the indicated price.

Send a message via ICQ to Gintaras

On May 24 I bought 2 Supras from Mwave for $32 each. They still have them (Mwave), but no longer at that cheap price.
