Angry Fire sata failure

i installed a sata drive a while ago after much hassle with the correct drivers! it took me hrs. to find the correct one and install it correctly. after installation over the past few weeks i get a hard drive failure averaging once every 2 or 3 days. it randomly fails and then i have to turn the computer off and let it sit a while before turning it back on. it will then work again. what is causing these failures and how cna i stop them?

What do you mean, "hard drive failures"? What error messages are you getting? What is happening exactly?

Also, please post your system specs.

What OS are you running? I did put a link into my post that went to the M$ KB, but it was for Windows 2000. It's a long shot before serious troubleshooting, but it might be the SATA controller chip socket on the motherboard.

This is what Micosoft has to say about that error : http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...d_stp_fvlq.asp

I would also run chkdsk on that hard drive.
My Computer>right click on the drive>Properties>Tools>error checking.
