SONY DRU810A Tray Won't Not Open

I purchased a SONY DRU810A DVD burner a few weeks ago locally and the tray opened and when I closed it, it opened again. This was for a new build so I took a DVD drive from my main rig and used it in the meantime, I returned the Sony drive.

I then purchased the same Sony Drive from Newegg, and after installing it, it's doing the same exact problems. My system recognizes the drive but the tray keeps opening and staying open. I can't update the firmware, and I've tried setting the drive to slave or cable select (it's in the slave position on the IDE cable). My other Sony DVDRW drive operates normally but I have no idea what's causing this. Perhaps both drives I tried are faulty??

Red face

Scratch that. I've figured it out. Everytime I took the drive out of the box, I swapped face-plates with the included black face-plate. It seems that this face-plate fits improperly and forces to the drive to eject continuously. *shakes fist at Sony*

Well, it's not fixed per say. I had to heavily mod the faceplate that fit in order the get the drive into my case.
