Start, settings, control panel, modems, diagnostics, highlight the port the modem is on, more info - and the firmware version will be in the ATI3 response.

Would you run out and update the BIOS on your motherboard, when it's already working perfectly?
Treat a modem the same way. Until ISP's start using V.92, no reason to touch it. If it works, don't fix it. |

I dont no YET if it does work. all i,m doing is getting the exact pieces together to make sure A) i get it working 1st time b) it works as it should . basically the OS that the modem is working on is different to the OS it,ll be getting used on ,so as there different set ups it may be a poblem,so if i,m over anxious it,s only because i like my set up to be correct that way less hassle in the long term ,wouldnt you say??

You don't need (or want) new firmware.
All you need is the specific drivers for the OS's it's going to be used on. It plugs into a standard Serial port, usually com 2, on (just about) any PC, so as long as the serial port is working, and you have the right driver, windows will detect it (turn the modem on BEFORE you start the computer), and ask for the driver. Full instructions are included with the driver. |

If you have 2.210 and the one on the site is 2.210, sounds to me like you have the latest already.

Supra
Well i,m back with my report on the diamond supra express i,m borrowing from my brother.
i,m with the same ISP and on the same telephone line and same pc as my AZTECH win modem, well the diamond,s highest speed is only 42.667k and that has been rare in the 5 days ive used it,my aztech,s top speed is 46,667k doesnt seem right that a good hardare modem can be out preformed by a win modem??? what do you guy,s reckon then!!!!
