optical drive problems
Hey, i was wondering if you guys could help me with my DVD drives. iv got a Samsung DVD drive and a DVD Re-Writer drive both on the same ide channel with the DVD drive as master and the writer as secondary.
the problem is that my samsung drive wont read any typ of CD or DVD. there is power going to it and it is recognised in the BIOS and windows but when a disc is inserted it acts as if there is nothing there. i tried scanning the registry and uninstalling the device and drivers but still got the same problem. i also tried putting it on its own ide channel but still the same. my PC needed a re-format anyway as this wasnt the only problem. after re-formating and installing windows still the same. Ok i thought could be a problem with the BIOS so i reset the CMOS on my motherboard still nothing. Also when i was installing sme of my old games last night using my writer drive i got to disc 2 of mafia when it asked me for disc 3 the drive refused to eject. all i got when i pressed eject the LED on te drive started flashing red which only happen when sometihng is being written. a reboot slved this but wouldn't like it to happen again. any help on either of these problems would be greatly appreciated cheers |

Did you trying upgrading the firmware and maybe reinstalling the drivers. Don't know if this will help but can't hurt.
