Printer behaves different in xp
Hi,
I just built a new system and am using a canon bjc-250 (old, but easy to refill cartridges for the kids...). I let xp install its own drivers and it behaves very different from the old computer which was running 98. It slows the computer down big time while printing. I never noticed this probelm in 98. Any ideas? Thanks |

That seems to be a common issue with old parallel printers in XP that use native XP drivers.

Would installing the driver from the canon website do much? Or is the solution to use a printer with a usb interface?

Does Canon even offer a XP driver for that printer?

Its the Dark Side!

I tried hooking up an old mustek scanner which used the parallel port on my Dell, which has XP. it didnt even detect anything. And finding drivers for XP was a failed task. For a printer that old, finding XP drivers is quite a gamble.
