matching ram with eachother

i've got a real quick question. i have some no name brand ram (prodos or something) that's ddr3. now i have room to upgrade some memory and so i was was wondering if i could buy a different brand of ram (kingston or something) and install it on my two empty ram slots. oh and the new ram would be ddr3 also

What are the rest of your computer specifications?

If its a home build computer - the best thing to do is consult the manual.

DDR3? The only DDR3 I know of is GDDR3 on video cards.

well the uhhh pc2700 type ram... right? the only thing the manual says is that i can either put 1,2,or 4 sticks of ram in really.
