on ASUS' website the recomemnded ram is the corsair xms- 3500 but on neweggg it says the compatible ram is ddr 400 pc 3200. is the pc3500 really compatible and will it run at those speeds? i need the fasted ram possible for this board, do timings matter?

Are you planning on overclocking? Faster RAM is useless otherwise. Timings don't have a large impact on AMD systems.
Corsair's website lists a number of DDR 500 modules as compatible and one PC3500 kit as compatible.

i probably wont be overclocking, all i want is the best performace safely w/o overclocking, period. waht is the best 2gb pack icould for that mobo that would mkae the machine scream

PC3200 Value Select will be fine. Timings really don't matter with the AMD 64 memory architecture.
