on ASUS' website the recomemnded ram is the corsair xms- 3500 but on neweggg it says the compatible ram is ddr 400 pc 3200. is the pc3500 really compatible and will it run at those speeds? i need the fasted ram possible for this board, do timings matter?

Are you planning on overclocking? Faster RAM is useless otherwise. Timings don't have a large impact on AMD systems.

Corsair's website lists a number of DDR 500 modules as compatible and one PC3500 kit as compatible.

PC3200 Value Select will be fine. Timings really don't matter with the AMD 64 memory architecture.
