Good CRT monitor 19" or greater

I was in the market for a new monitor since my buying an Altima fell through. I found this Samsung 19" - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001068
and this other 19" - http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRa...gesize=&Page=2
which would be better? Or if you have another 19inch that displays better then 1280x1024 lemme know.

Hi Darth Revan, I'm somewhat familiar with the Samsung 997DF as I checked it out last year when my son was looking for a monitor.
First, I like Samsung Crts as I have a Samsung 900SL and I immediately suggested we look at the 997 because it was rated very good among the 19" monitors that were available back then. I looked at the monitor in both Circuit City and Micro Center and the picture wasn't as good as my 900Sl.
The sales people were not that interested in helping me and could not answer my questions about the video cards that were being used. On paper it is suppose to be very good, I don't know whether the stores deliberately sabotage the performance so the customers would move up to a higher priced monitor or whether the video card was just inferior.

At the time Stables had a 19" Envision eft920 on sale for $129 that looked better than the Samsung and Staples policy was try it and if you are not satisfied bring it back for a full refund(Micro line told me there was a restocking fee if I returned it). My son kept it and has had no problems with it so far. Staples still sells the Envision if you care to check it out at a store.

PS Samsung measures the dot pitch differently, for comparative purposes you would have to increase the number, I believe it equivalent to about a .25.

How do you like your motherboard? I built a new system last year with the same board but performance is slow. I'm using a 1.7 Willamette processor so that could be the problem, new 3.2 Northwood was ordered this last weekend.

It would be better to pick one up at a local store. Freight charges from Newegg would offset any price savings

IBM P96 works for me. you can pick one up at Microcenter. Only 80 dollars.
