Mouse freezing

Just today this started. My mouse will just randomly freeze and I can't make it move again until I reconnect my mouse. Very annoying. Happening a lot in World of Warcraft but also out of game. Any ideas as to whether this is a hardware or software problem?

What is the model of the mouse? It sounds like its wireless. If it is, try moving everything away from the receiver, especially anything metal. That can cause interference.

Is it wireless? Are your batteries good?

Had the same problem with a PS/2 mouse. Replaced it with a new one, and the problem went away.
If a different PS/2 mouse has the same problem, then the port may be bad.

If yours is a USB mouse, then disconnect all other USB devices. If that works, then the USB hub is being overloaded. You may have to install a powered USB hub.
If disconnecting other USB devices does not help, then try a different port. If no luck, then the mouse may be bad.

It's not wireless, it's an Intellipoint Explorer (3.0 I think) - I've tried so many things, new drivers, etc. I try to switch it to USB but it has problems there too (instead of freezing it will lose connectivity for a second and gain it back) Guess the mouse is probably dying
