Water cooling

Ok guys im ready to over clock now. I was look at some air cooler (mostly the gigabyte g power for my amd 4000+. I heard its really amazing for amd and its really , really easy to install it.

As i was thinking of buying it i remembered about watercooling and i know its alot better than an air cooler. What would u guys recommend (best bang for buck cooler). Is there any than can also cool my video card so i can overclock it higher since you'll be able to overclock higher with water depending on the cooler.

Also what are some things i might have to look into if i get a water cooling system for my pc?

Thanks

Several things to consider: space in the case for the pump,radiator,plumbing/ power draw of the pump and fans. Most of the water cooler makers do make water blocks for GPUs, just make sure it is for your video card.

Here is a great guide... a little old but still good.

Gigabyte coolers aren't the best, I would go for an all-copper Zalman such as the 7700cu, or a Vapochill Micro for AMD. And from my (limited) experience and knowledge, watercooling is only really worth it if you go for the real thing rather than cheaper 'kits', so you'll probably need to spend quite a bit on something like a Asetek or Dangerden kit if you want a considerable performance increase over top-end air cooling.

I agree. Most of the "cheaper" kits on the market ranging from 80$-$150 (maybe more) don't perform very well and can be outperformed by a good aircooling setup. The main benifit from such liquid coolers is lack of noise.

How about the blue orb 2.Its got the same base as the zalman . I want one that will stand out like that one or one with a led. Bwtween the blue orb 2 and the golden orb 2 wich should i go with and what is better. Does anyone know approximatly how many degress lower my cpu will be with the blue orb 2 and golden orb?

Also what do i need a back plate to install these on a socket 939 motherboard?

Talking about gigabyte are u sure the g power cooler is not very good. It had an effect on amd 64 prossesor 24 degress lower than normal in custom pc magazine. Can the blue orb do better?

The best watercooling systems are better than the best air cooling systems by a large margin and there is some overlap between the low quality water kits and the best fans. Don't bother with watercooling if you do not plan on overclocking. There are pleanty of very quiet fans that are more than adequate for stock CPU speeds.

If you want the the best of the best parts then check out the custom parts such as what is sold on the Dangerden website and to a degree the Koolance website. If money is a big issue then check out the kits which tend to have parts that are not as efficient as the custom parts. There are no kits that I am particularly fond of. They all seem to have some sort of weak link here or there. Many of the kit makers have cut corners where they should not have such as cheap parts that could leak or break. With the kits you get pretty much what you pay for.

If you're going to go with a water cooler solution, get an EXTERNAL system. Then you don't have to worry about space inside your case. Also, it will actually cool your computer.

See here about my mistake and a good solution for a video card cooler

If you're going to overclock, a northbridge cooler my be worth consideration as well.

Hmm some very good tips here and when i build my next custom computer i might just think about going with a custom cooler that i can inject some of the dies into the clear tubing for an added snazzy effect, im more than likely going to over clock it to its max potential so i think a water cooler will be just what the pc doctor ordered. lol
