just picked up this computer ( http://www.cisnetpc.com/spec/spec_ci3001cc108.html ) for my parents last night. it came w/ a DVD-RW drive and a 120gb HD. but it has space for a 2nd DVD drive and 2nd HD.
right now i am adding in their old HD for storage and a 2nd DVD drive into it. the HD worked fine, but i am having trouble w/ the DVD drive. the computer came w/ all the cables ready to go, i plugged them in, switched all the jumpers to "CS" and thought i was good (this is exactly what i did for the HD and it worked perfect!). well, the computer will not boot up now w/ the DVD drive plugged in. out of the box it would say: "boot from DVD/CD :" then "press f10 to start recovery" then would count down from 10 and then boot now that i put the 2nd DVD drive in, it says "boot from DVD/CD :" twice, but will not go any further. this leads me to believe that the 2nd DVD drive is preventing it from booting up. on this black screen it also says: -------------------------------------------------------- pri. matster disk : lba, ata 100, 120gb parallel port(s): 378 pri. slave disk : lrg, ata 100, 100 gb ddr sdram at dimm: 1 sec. master disk : dvd-rw,ata 33 sec. slave disk : dvd,ata 33 -------------------------------------------------------- how do i fix this?? i'm not a computer pro by any means, i just know how to hook up cable!! any help would be really appreciated, thanks! |

Try setting the DVD drive at the end of the cable Master and the one in the middle Slave.

Make sure the cable isn't reversed - with the master end in the motherboard.
