Mouse troubles...

I have a customer who's mouse does not work when you first turn on the cpu, but if you shut it down and restart it, it then does.

Any suggestions? It's a p/s2 running on Win XP Home. Intel MoBo.

Make sure the mouse is securely connected.
If that does not help, then try a different mouse. If it works consistently, then the current mouse is bad.
If the same problem happens with another mouse, then the PS/2 port may be failing.

What mouse is it? Wireless/Wired? Have you tried it on USB?

Yes, it's a wired p/s2 mouse. I'll try another mouse and see if that helps. The MoBo is new, so I hope the port isn't going bad. Could a Driver udate maybe help?

I doubt a driver update would have any effect... Windows should have a default driver anyway, which should be fine...

Can we have the model/brand of the mouse? Certain wireless mouse(s) are known problem makers.

My immediate gut feel is that its the PS2 port. Save yourself the headache and get a USB mouse.
