Question Dont understand

Just got done building a backup system from some old parts while my primary system is waiting for a replacenebt MB..In my primary system I have a 60gb maxtor DiamondMax ATA/133 hd as a backup/storage hooked to a IDE connection.I tried to put this into the backup system I just built so I could copy some files from it...I hooked it up to an IDE connector and power. It was seen in the BIOS as master on its own port. The computer would not boot..Said the NTLDR is missing...I did a Google search and dont really understand why this is happening...It was hooked the same way,why wont it work?Thank you.....

HI

so basically you are trying to boot from that hdd?
if thats the case you need to do a repair install, windows is not recognizing the new/other hardware.
it would be better to install the hdd as a slave, and copy your files.

Sounds like the pc is trying to boot from that hard disk while it doesn't have a Windows install. This is probably because you added the hard drive and it just so happened to fall before the current one, becoming the new default boot drive. Solution is simply to change the boot order in the bios setup. Either you can change the boot setting from C: to D:/E:/F: or you can change the hard drive priority sequence, depending on your bios. Change it to the correct hard drive and it will boot again.
