i need to format my com but need a external hardrive to backup my files.
Is there any external harddrive that is "2.5" inch ,7,200 RPM, 160 GB and using usb 2.0 plug and play as i travel a lot; if have which brand should i buy and how much? What is the difference btw IDE and SATA? Would it be cheaper if i build it myself and how much for a hard drive and a external casing? |

www.newegg.com
Probably won't find a 2.5 external that already put together. But you can put together one your self and save several dollars. 2.5" inch drives are for notebooks and are much more expensive than a standard 3.5".

Not only are 2.5" drives a lot more expensive, but your selection is severely handicapped, too. Newegg has over 150 hard drives for sale, but I could find exactly one in the 2.5" format, for example.

2.5" drives are notebook drives. Max size right now is 120gb, and there are not many 7200rpm models yet at all. If you want that size and speed, you are looking at a 3.5" desktop drive. Choose your housing accordingly.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144383 Seperate WD Hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144203 External Enclosure: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817145656 Would make a bit more sense to buy the drive and enclosure seperatly, as the already built drive will be lacking in performance, as it only has a 2mb cache, and the seperate combination is a bit cheaper as well...
