Printer power problem!

I was wondering how I could get my printer to turn off when I turn off my computer.

Printer: HP deskjet 970 cxi
OS: Windows XP

Thanks,

Don't think you can. They both plug in separately and depend on their own power switch to turn on/off. It's gonna be a two step method no matter how you do it. Even if you could turn the printer off with the PC, you'd still have to push the power button on the printer to turn it back on once power is restored.

Old Hardware

The printer use to be hooked up to an old dell, pentium 2 and it would turn off and on with the computer. But I think that it could have been that type of motherboard.

Look through all the settings in the printer driver. Several years ago, I had a Canon inkjet that would shut itself off after 10 minutes of non-use and would power back on whenever a print job was sent to it.
