Hi all I have a heat problem.
I my computer acts up and shuts down when gaming if my window is not opened, when opened and i have my room fan blowing my room cools down to about 12-15 degrees C. My computer will run fine, the only problem is its cold and my hands get cold, when i shut the windown and turn off the fan. the room heats to 20-25C and then the computer shuts off when gaming (any game) So this is what i have come up with (The computer stays on while not gaming) -I have checked the Powersupply for potentional heat, or malfunctons. -My proccesser is working properly and my fan is colling well -All my fans are working and doing there job -I have a heat sencer in the computer that allows me to check the case temp from where i am sitting. -To check the accuracy of the senser i put it on the cpu heat sink, 30C compared to the BIOs 34C. -Working properly- -Placed the heat senser around the computer to check heat. next to RAM, CPU, PSU, GRAPHICS CARD, MOBO ITSELF, and on HD. -I then found another heatsink behind the graphics card, check the heat of that and its a screeming 55C -I have downloaded some Software to check the Temps in relation to what i have, everyting seemes to be working fine, except for one thing AUX/Power Temp. 71C. I need help people is spring now and i wil not be able to game if its this warm all the time. 55c on the video card is fairly normal. 34c CPU temp is normal temp at idle. Check with Gigabyte as to what the Aux/Power reading is really measuring. I would check to make sure the CPU HSU is on tight. And check the PSU voltages either in the BIOS or if Gigabyte has a monitoring program on the mobo CD.

are you shure, because its not the card thats hot its the heatsink behind it, for the SLI
YOu can see it in this picture its gold colored. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Showim...board+-+Retail I have the card in the Blue slot is that right? |

Those temperatures look normal, it could be your PSU like flanzig stated. What brand and wattage is the PSU? Yes, you have the video card in the correct slot.

Rosewill isn't a brand know for quality and could be the problem. You should try to check the voltages under a load, if a rail drops too much (or goes too high) the power supply will shut down or the computer will just crash if the voltage is out of spec. As for the Aux temp, you might try another program (like SpeedFan) and see if that 71C is there. There might just be nothing reporting temps there, mine gives funky values (like 13C or 127C) for temps that don't actually exisit. I think some boards report the temps for the VRMs (voltage regulator for the CPU) and I think 70s is pretty normal.
All those temps are fine, it's not uncommon to see video card temperatures as high as 70C-80C.

Ok here they are
Idle 10 min after start up Voltage Sensor(s) CPU Voltage : 1.39V Aux Voltage : 2.54V +3.3V Voltage : 3.34V +5V Voltage : 2.98V +12V Voltage : 11.36V -12V Voltage : -7.92V -5V Voltage : -1.84V Standby Voltage : 2.71V Battery Voltage : 4.08V Stress Voltage Sensor(s) CPU Voltage : 1.39V Aux Voltage : 2.54V +3.3V Voltage : 3.34V +5V Voltage : 3.52V +12V Voltage : 11.36V -12V Voltage : -4.87V -5V Voltage : -1.64V Standby Voltage : 4.25V Battery Voltage : 4.08V Ill let you know i dont know what any of this means so please fill me in on it. |

Your 5V is way off spec, and your +12 is a bit too low as well. However, before you rule the power supply out completely, it would be wise to find a voltmeter and check the lines that way. Speedfan told me my 5V was only 2.5 but when I checked it with a voltmeter, it was a solid 5.1.
The power supply could indeed be the problem, but check the lines that way to be sure.

More information, I have 2 powersupplys, that Roswill and a stock 400W one that came with the case and with either one of them in the computer still shuts down.

If both power supplies show offspec voltages, it's likely the motherboard is defective.

Oh that sucks, should i send the motherboard back to newegg and get a replacement this is my second one. First had boot problems.
The other thing is that i dont know what the other power supply voltages are, is it possible the other isnt powerful enough? |
