Cool and Quiet problem?
yesterday i got Cool n Quiet running on my cpu but when i was playing a game...i would hear this ticking noise from the speakers at a pretty regular interval. i opened up the AMD dashboard utility that displays how cool n quiet is working and it showed the frequency to sit at 1000mhz idle... but at load (while playing my game) it would jump up and down from 1800 to 2200. could Cool and Quiet be the problem? because when i turned it off it seemed to disappear. should i get that X2 patch for windows xp?

Yep, Cool n Quiet is probably causing the noise. It can happen during spikes in the CPU frequency.
See if the following utility helps to quiet things down: http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml |
