Internal 7 in 1 Card Reader? Help needed.
Hello everyone,
I am wanting to add a card reader to my system and have found the following: Mitsibushi Internal 7 in 1 Card Reader & FDD In the product description it says: "You will require an internal USB header for the card reader cable" I'm using a Intel D955XBK motherboard. 1). What is an internal USB header? 2). Does my motherboard have one? 3). Do i need to buy any extra components / cables / connectors to make it work? Any help would be much appreciated.. Many Thanks Pryse |

USB headers are for connecting the USB ports on the front of your case or any other extra USB ports you may have, don't confuse them with USB ports physically mounted on the rear of the board.
You have 8 USB connections on that board but you will need to read the manual to tell you which ones are headers and which ones are ports. There are some links below to Intels pages about your board. Home page for your board http://www.intel.com/products/mother...5XBK/index.htm USB pinout information http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../CS-009048.htm

It's got a front panel I/O shield, even if you're not using it, so it has headers.
So yes your board has an internal usb header. It should come with the card reader/FDD. edit : While I was checking rjf was typing. Yes check your manual for where the header is.
