Celeron-D + 845 chipsets (Asus P4B-266)

will these work together? bios update needed?

i sold off an old Asus P4B-266C to a co worker and he (retardedly) bent the pins on the 1.6A that i gave him while putting the CPU in, and despite trying to straighten them out, i still get no-memory beeps with known-working ram.

looks like Celeron-Ds are the only CPUs still sold at retail that might work in these mobos.

i "think" the bios revision the board was running was 1004, but if the bios has to be updated to support the Celeron-D CPUs, that presents a whole other set of problems (still no working CPU to fire this board up with).

Asus has a CPU support database.

VERY limited - read it and weep. 400 FSB only - Willamettes and Northwoods up to 2.2 max. Geeks.com has some processors that will work.

Don't think it will work. The Cely D's are 533 fsb and your board is only 400. Here's the cpu support chart from Asus for your mobo.

edit: Looks like I was beaten by the master!

Geeks.com has some 400 FSB Northwoods.

It won't recognize a Cely-D because of the Prescott core, not the FSB issue.
