Can't find anythin on ULi M1695/ ULi M1567 Beep Code

I have an AsRock 939Dual SATA2 mobo and am having trouble with my X800XL PCIe. I put it in and I get 1 long beep and 10 short beep and nothing. My 9700pro AGP works fin in the mobo. Can't find and listing for ULi Beep code, ami i lookin at the wrong typ of Bios?

As alway thank in advance.

Edit: I've tried other PCIe card in my machine and they work and I've tried my card, Powercolor X800XL in another machine and it worked there. Also reseated the card many times just haven't taken the mobo out of the case and tried yet.

It looks like that board has an AMI BIOS; the closest code here to what you described is "Display/retrace test failed", indicating a bad video card.

Thanks, that's what I thought but I tried the card in 2 other machines it worked fine. Did have someone tell me to check the PCIe frequency in the Bios, looked at it and it's set to 100mhz. Is that high for a PCIe card? You can change the frequency if you enable Async for the Card and the CPU. I guess you could over cloc these together if you wanted.

Also, it seems to be loading Windows, when i put the 9700pro (AGP) back in, after holding the power button to shut down it boots and says it's doing the check because Windows did not Shut down properly. So it seems to be getting to Windows but I have no video to see it. Myabe I need to set the PCIe frequency lower than 100mhz. Who knows, just frustrated because other x800 users with the board haven't had these problems.

Maybe a bad PCI-e slot? Can you try another card in that slot?

Yea, Took an ATi X600 from work to test it and it booted no problem. It doesn't make sense to me.

The dual boards do not necessarily play nice with all cards. It's possible that a X800XL just won't work in it.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm going to change the PCIe frequency and see if I can get it to work. If not I'll sell the X800XL and buy something different. May try a 6800 GS it all else fails. Thanks for the help glc, I'll post if it works or not so others don't don't go through the same problems.

Seems like you are correct glc. The x800xl works fine in other machines and I've got other PCIe cards (x600) to work in my machine. I've set the PCIe frequency to everything from 70-100 and still nothing. It boots to Windows because I see the HDD activity and it checks for errors with the old card back in (says Windows was shut down incorrectly because I hold in the power button to turn it off with the Powercolor X800Xl) but it just won't register video. Looks like it's time to sell the X800XL and buy something diferent. Really don't want to replace the mobo since everything is set and working and I heard the x800xl's were really good cards. Guess I'll stick with the 9700Pro until I get this card sold.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

The PCI-E frequency is natively 100MHz...so that wouldnt be your problem. Its very possible, from what glc is saying, that its incompatible with your board. These 939Duals are great boards...aside from the various video card issues. Have you tried updating the BIOS? ASRock just released v1.7.
