DDR2 and AM2
Is DDR2 ram really better than DDR? Looking at latencies vs. bus speeds I find them to be an equal tradeoff. Further is DDR2 667 worth the price over DDR2 533? I was looking at the timings on some Newegg ram and theres large differences. I already know that timings make a difference, but is the extra bus speed worth it. This will be for a gaming rig and I just want to make sure I'm getting all the bang out of my $$$$.

Also any recommendations for 2x1gb sticks of DDR2 for under $300 would be welcome.

DDR2 has a lot more potential than DDR, which has pretty much reached the limits of speed. That's why the industry is moving towards DDR2, even though DDR2 isn't incredibly faster than DDR at this point.
DDR2 667 is only worth it if you plan on overclocking, just like with regular memory. The only reason to get memory that is faster than what the motherboard/chipset can use is for overclocking. |

What motherboard and processor are you going it be using it with? If you aren't going to be OverClocking, check the specs sheet for the motherboard and it should tell you what the best DDR speed is.

No, DDR2 memory will not fit in a DDR motherboard. DDR2 memory only fits in a DDR2 motherboard.
