Front Panel Connector Question
I recently bought a mobo, processor, and RAM with upgrading an old Compaq box in mind. Too late, I ran CPU-Z and realized that I had a Compaq proprietary mobo in the box. The front panel power connector is a 19 pin plug instead of the standard ATX plug. I really didn't intend to buy a case/psu since I actually like the old case; also, a new case certainly wouldn't match my old monitor and keyboard.
Does anyone know of an adapter that would allow me to plug my front panel connector into an ATX mobo? If there is no such thing, is my only option to buy a new case (and therefore a new keyboard, monitor, and mouse as well--kinda defeats any economic advantage to personally upgrading, doesn't it)? |

You can remove the wires/pins from the Compaq connector and insert them into your own connectors. Radio Shack might have the connector blocks. Or if you have any old pc salvage/used sellers in your area you could probably get connectors there. I've even installed the wires directly on the posts making sure they don't touch each other. You'll have to trace them back to the case front to determine which wires go to which led, button, etc. The usb wiring may be off too. Check it closely.
